Development Technologist

We have an exciting new opportunity for a Development Technologist to support our Research and Development Team.

The role will report in to our Senior Development Technologist and will responsible for the execution of development projects; both NPD and Product improvement.

Key activities will include:

  • Progressing multiple projects through the NPD system from brief to launch, including keeping key personnel aware of any updates.
  • Working closely with the commercial teams to ensure product briefs are understood and NPD is fit for purpose.
  • Managing the critical path and development process for projects.
  • Monitoring final product costs throughout the development process
  • Participating in the development of channel plans whilst attending regular meetings and supporting customer visits and presentations.
  • Arranging and conducting factory trials and first production runs with the Production team.
  • Participating in the completion of QAS standards for NPD products
  • Managing benchmarking activities and competitor analysis, collating and communicating findings.

The ideal candidate will have or possess:

  • A strong understanding of new product development and manufacturing processes and problem-solving abilities.
  • The ability to think outside the box whilst under pressure.
  • Relevant experience of working within either retail, manufacturing, wholesale or foodservice channels.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Educated to Degree/HND level in Food Science/Food Technology or related subject with a real passion for Food.
  • Good numeracy and literacy skills
  • Self motivation, tenacity and the ability to manage own workload while being flexible to the changing needs of the business.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with excellent organisational skills.
  • Proficient IT skills in all applications.
